5. Xiaomi Redmi 9A

Xiaomi Redmi 9A is the latest budget mobile phone from Xiaomi in india. It is the direct successor to last year's Redmi 8A. Despite being a next-gen product, there's little to be excited about as the upgrades that the Redmi 9A brings are pretty awful. And to make things worse, Xiaomi has even stripped its device of numerous key features from its predecessor.

To begin with, the Redmi 9A has a 6.53 inch IPS LCD panel with HD+ resolution. Although there is nothing wrong with that, it is now devoid of any protective glass. If you remember, the Redmi 8A had Corning's Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Similarly, the body of the 9A is not covered by the P2i against water splashes.

Helio G25

However, one of the phone's main attractions is its Helio G25 gaming-focused SoC. Redmi 9A, which allows you to get good FPS in shooter games like PUBG Mobile Lite, can be a viable option for full-budget buyers. There is only one memory variant with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. You can expand the storage using the dedicated SD card slot.

The single lens setup also follows the Redmi 9A. Here, inside the teardrop notch, you'll get a 13MP primary sensor and a 5MP front camera. Powering the phone is a massive 5000mAh battery. While the Redmi 8A had the same capacity battery, it came with Type-C port and supported 18W fast charging. However, the Redmi 9A has a micro USB port instead and the 10W charger takes around 3 hours to fully charge the phone.

Xiaomi Redmi 9A Features:

  • Display: 6.53 inch IPS LCD panel, 269PPI, HD+ (1600 x 720 pixels)
  • Chipset: MediaTek Helio G25 (12nm Mobile Platform)
  • Memory: 2/3GB RAM, 32/64GB storage (expandable)
  • Software and UI: MIUI 12 above Android 10
  • Rear Camera: Single (13MP primary)
  • Front Camera: 5MP, f/2.2 lens (notch)
  • Security: Face unlock, no fingerprint sensor
  • Sensors: Accelerometer, Proximity
  • Battery: 5000mAh with 10W charging

6. POCO C3

The best Mobile phone under 15000 go to the new POCO C3. With the company's recent entry into the Nepal market, it would obviously ruffle some feathers. As a result, both products have managed to top our list of best phones under their respective price points. Here the POCO C3 is almost a carbon copy of the Redmi 9C just above it.

The difference in rebranding

The biggest difference here is that while the Redmi 9C comes with a physical fingerprint scanner, the C3 skips that entirely. So here you will rely on face unlock or other traditional biometric measures. Likewise, there is this feature called "Better Battery 2.0", which the company claims provides better battery health in the long run compared to other smartphones. With that, POCO says the C3's 5000mAh battery lasts for 3.2 years without any degradation.

You get a 6.53 inch HD+ IPS LCD panel. It has a teardrop notch for the 5MP front camera. At the back, you'll find a triple lens setup led by a 13MP primary sensor complete with a 2MP depth and 2MP macro lens. The phone is powered by MediaTek's Helio G35 SoC and POCO went with 3/4GB RAM here. And since we believe the fingerprint sensor swap for 1GB more RAM is the better deal, the POCO C3 manages to rank higher than the Redmi 9C on our list of best phones in Nepal under NPR 15000.

POCO C3 Features:

  • Display: 6.43 inch IPS LCD panel, 270PPI, HD+ (1600 x 720 pixels)
  • Chipset: MediaTek Helio G35 (12nm Mobile Platform)
  • Memory: 3/4GB RAM, 32/64GB storage (expandable)
  • Software and UI: MIUI 12 above Android 10
  • Rear Camera: Triple (13MP primary, 2MP macro, 2MP depth)
  • Front Camera: 5MP, f/2.2 lens (notch)
  • Security: Face unlock, No fingerprint scanner
  • Sensors: Accelerometer, Proximity
  • Battery: 5000mAh with 10W charging
